Bmibaby announces new tie-up with Germanwings

Bmibaby and Germanwings have entered into a new agreement that will see the airlines list details of each other's flights on their booking websites.

The new partnership, which comes into effect on October 25, will also make it easier for passengers to book connecting flights across both carriers' networks.

Bmibaby vies for easyJet slots at East Midlands

Bmibaby is staking a claim in the slots freed up at East Midlands Airport following easyJet's declaration that it is withdrawing from the base.

The low-cost carrier says it will boost its presence at the regional gateway by 40 per cent, basing three more aircraft there and adding eight new routes.

Its announcement comes just days after no-frills rival easyJet confirmed that it is cancelling all flights at the airport, which it accuses of charging excessive fees.

Bmibaby rolls out first details of 2010 timetable

Spain-majorca-palma-nova Bmibaby has unveiled the first phase of it summer 2010 flight schedule, which features several Mediterranean resorts popular with holidaymakers.

As part of the programme, the no-frills airline is running flights to Alicante, Faro, Malaga, Menorca, Murcia and Palma. Further destinations will be announced soon.

Two low-cost airlines have unveiled details of their forthcoming winter schedules in a bid to encourage travellers to book as early as possible.

Jet2.com announced that it will operate flights from several UK airports to Geneva and the ski resort of Chambery, with fares starting from as little as £19.99 one-way including taxes.

No-frills rival bmibaby has also published details of its winter schedule, which includes new flights to Grenoble from all four of its UK bases.

Extra bmibaby flights for MIPIM conference

bmibaby has put on additional flights from Birmingham International Airport to Nice for the MIPIM conference.

The low-cost carrier has laid on an extra five flights to take people to and from Birmingham for the real estate summit.

This brings the total number of flights to Nice to seven and approximately 900 people are expected to fly to the French hotspot in order to attend the event.

Bmibaby shuffles routes

Bmibaby has announced the introduction of a new service from Cardiff international Airport to Almeria.

The low cost airline has revealed that this new Spanish route will be operated at the expense of its schedules to Amsterdam and Glasgow from the Welsh airport from May 22, 2009.

The twice-weekly service will allow passengers to depart from Cardiff at 6.55pm on Mondays, arriving in Almeria at 10.40pm and at 7.15pm on Fridays, landing in Almeria at 11pm.

Bmibaby unveils Midlands to Menorca route

Menorca Bmibaby has revealed that it will be operating a summer route to Menorca from East Midlands Airport.

The budget carrier will offer passengers services to the Spanish island from just £41.99 one way, including taxes and charges, from May 22 until October 24, 2009.

Flights will be operated three times a week on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and bmibaby has forecasted that it will carry close to 20,000 passengers during this period.

Bmibaby will suspend five of its 21 routes from Birmingham International Airport next summer, in response to a lack of demand.

The low-budget airline will put on hold routes to Rome, Milan, Lisbon, Madrid and Bordeaux between March 29 and October 24 from the sixth busiest airport in the UK.

New additions to bmibaby summer network

A number of new routes to destinations across Europe for summer 2009 have been announced by bmibaby.

The low-cost airline has launched its timetable for next year with new routes from East Midlands Airport to Almeria, from Manchester to Toulouse and Amsterdam, and from Cardiff to Lisbon.

bmibaby will operate a twice a day service from Manchester to Amsterdam during the week, with an additional service on Sunday, while flights from Manchester to Toulouse will operate on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Bmibaby and easyJet latest to axe Jersey flights

Bmibaby and easyJet have become the latest airlines to pull services operating between Jersey and the UK mainland.

EasyJet is axing five flights from its winter schedule, The Jersey Evening Post reports, despite having reassured islanders that it will not reduce services.

The affected connections are London Luton and Liverpool, while no-frills rival bmibaby is also pulling all flights to Birmingham until next spring.

Bmibaby has announced the launch of new routes from airports across the UK as the airline opens up phase two of its winter programme from Birmingham, Cardiff, the East Midlands and Manchester.

The airline's new winter schedule will see the start of flights from Birmingham to Krakow, Milan Bergamo and Warsaw; from Manchester to Barcelona; from Cardiff to Barcelona and Warsaw; and from East Midlands to Warsaw.

Bmibaby to cut flights from Cardiff Airport

Bmibaby is to scale back the services it operates out of Cardiff International Airport, The South Wales Echo reports.

Britain's largest low-cost carrier is to cut flights from the Welsh airport this winter due to concerns over soaring fuel costs, with the average cost of a barrel of oil reaching a record-high of $143 this week.

Speaking to the regional newspaper, airline spokesman Julian Carr said that the cutbacks were necessary to ensure the airline remains competitive.

Bmibaby expands winter schedule

Bmibaby has added a raft of new routes to its winter programmes at four UK airports.

The low-cost carrier will be operating regular services from Birmingham Airport to six Mediterranean hotspots, including up to four weekly flights to Malaga and Alicante.

It will also fly to Murcia, Palma and Faro twice a week, and the Swiss city of Geneva eight times weekly. From February 2009, a twice-weekly service to Nice will be added to its timetable.

New bmibaby services take to the skies

Madrid2Bmibaby has launched two new services from its base in Manchester Airport.

From this week, the low-cost carrier will be operating flights to the Spanish and Portuguese capital cities of Madrid and Lisbon.

Manchester expansion planned by bmibaby

bmibaby has announced plans to expand the size of its operations at Manchester Airport by 50 per cent.

The low-cost carrier revealed on Tuesday (May 20) that it intends to add new destinations and increase the frequency of existing routes, The Manchester Evening News reported.

According to the newspaper, bmibaby's plans could create more than 100 jobs, which would double its number of staff based at the northern airport.

bmibaby launches new Cardiff to Barcelona route

bmibaby has launched a new route to Barcelona from Cardiff Airport.

The twice-weekly flights will commence on May 24, 2008, departing Cardiff on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

From June 18 this year, this will increase to three-times a week with an additional service operating on Wednesdays.

Manchester Airport gets new sunshine routes from bmibaby

MadridBmibaby has announced it will start two brand new routes from Manchester Airport to Lisbon and Madrid for the coming summer.

At the same time the airline will also operate a link to Barcelona and increase the frequency of weekly flights it offers to Ireland West Knock.

The new route to Lisbon takes off on June 17 and will operate on Tuesday and Sunday, and bmibaby is the only airline flying to the Portugese capital from Manchester with one-way tickets starting from £24.99.

The service to Madrid, which again is not currently served from the airport, will operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday with services commencing on June 16 and fares start from £24.99 one-way.

Bmibaby launches new Polish services

WarsawBmibaby has officially launched new services from Cardiff and East Midlands to the Polish capital, Warsaw, with the first flights taking off yesterday (February 10) and today.

The airline is offering three scheduled flights every week on the Cardiff to Warsaw route, with departures on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday during the winter and on Monday, Friday and Sunday as part of its summer timetable.

There are currently four weekly flights between East Midlands and Warsaw, departing on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday throughout the year.

Bmibaby announces new European routes from UK regional airports

The following new flights have gone on sale today (November 28): Birmingham to Milan (Bergamo), Madrid and Krakow; Cardiff to Gdansk and Warsaw; and East Midlands to Gdansk and Warsaw and Nice.

Madrid2Low-cost operator bmibaby is to start a new service between Birmingham and Madrid, providing the only service to the Spanish capital from the West Midlands.

Four flights a week will be offer, starting on December 7, and one-way tickets start from £24.99 and brings the total number of destinations served by bmibaby at Birmingham International Airport to 22.

Madrid is one of eight new destinations that bmibaby will fly to for winter 2007 from the airport with Barcelona, Faro, Glasgow, Jersey, Lisbon, Murcia and Rome Fiumicino also added to the airline's route map.

Bmibaby joins bmi diamond frequent flyer club

Passengers flying with bmibaby will now be able to earn frequent flyer miles through the bmi diamond club programme.

Members of the club can earn miles by travelling on bmibaby flights, bmi flights, flights with other Star Alliance member airlines (which include Swiss, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines), and those with other partners.

They can then be used on flights to more than 850 destinations available in the Star Alliance network.

Bmibaby increases Birmingham to Scotland flights

From September 8 flights to Edinburgh will increase to twice on Saturdays and four times on Sundays. Flights to Glasgow will increase to twice on Saturdays and three times on Sundays.

This will mean that bmibaby, the low-cost arm of bmi, will fly from Birmingham to Edinburgh 62 times per week and to Glasgow 50 times per week from September. Fares are priced from £18.99 one-way, inclusive of taxes and charges.

Two new routes to Ibiza from bmibaby

SpainibizaeivissaLow-cost operator bmibaby is to begin two new flights to Ibiza this summer.

The airline has announced the launch of three flights a week from East Midlands Airport starting on June 30 and continuing until September 9, as well as two flights a week from Cardiff starting on July 16 and continuing until September 7.

Fares start from just £34.99 one way including taxes and charges and are on sale now.

Bmibaby offers free Glasgow comedy festival tickets

Low-cost airline bmibaby is offering passengers the chance to win free tickets to the Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival.

The first 100 people who book return flights from Cardiff or East Midlands Airport to Glasgow after 1pm today (Thursday, March 8) will receive complimentary tickets to the festival, which takes place between March 8 and March 24.

bmibaby, the low-cost airline subsidiary of bmi, has launched an innovative new initiative designed to meet the specific needs of its business passengers.

The 'Open for Business' arrangement is based on the principle that business travellers often have different requirements for their flight. With this in mind, bmibaby has allowed its customers to choose only the services that they actually need, dispensing with superfluous extras.

A number of these services are complimentary and others entail a small fee. Business passengers will now be able to weigh up their options before deciding on a package that most suits their particular journey.

Bmibaby enhances Cardiff services

Bmibaby, the low-cost airline subsidiary of bmi, has revealed that it has added to its services from Cardiff International Airport.

Topping the bill is the announcement that flights will be available to Murcia from March 25 this year. The carrier will begin operating a four-times weekly service to this popular Spanish holiday resort, with prices starting at just £29.99 for one-way journeys.

Existing routes have also been enhanced, with more flights and improved journey times. The route to Palma, which currently runs four times a week, will become a daily service as part of the upgrade. The weekly service to Jersey will soon operate three times every week.

bmibaby to fly Birmingham to Jersey

No-frills airline bmibaby will begin a new route from Birmingham to Jersey as part of an expansion drive at the West Midlands airport.

From May 24, flights will operate four times a week, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, with the frequency likely to increase to twice daily over the coming 12 months.

Prices will begin at £24.99 one-way, including taxes. This is 40 per cent lower than the current lowest lead-in price offered by a rival airline on the route, bmibaby notes.

bmibaby to charge for checking in luggage

Budget airline bmibaby is the latest to introduce a charge for checking in luggage, while at the same time increasing the weight allowance of hand baggage.

A charge of £2.50 per flight will apply for those people who check-in their bags online, for those who arrive at the airport without pre-booking online a £5 charge per item will apply.

bmibaby is to keep the allowance for checked in luggage at 20kg, and increase the hand baggage allowance from 7kg to 10kg, although a bag’s dimensions cannot exceed 55cm x 40cm x 20cm.

November 17: bmibaby supporting BBC Children in Need

Low-cost airline bmibaby is supporting BBC Children in Need by donating £1 for each booking made online today (Friday, November 17).

The airline's cabin crew are also collecting donations for the children's appeal onboard all flights from Birmingham, Nottingham East Midlands, Cardiff and Manchester airports to 20 destinations in Europe.

The £1-per-booking donation will apply to all online bookings made for any route in bmibaby's network before midnight tonight.

Low-cost airline bmibaby has begun its latest expansion drive at Birmingham International Airport with the announcement of three new summer routes, to Glasgow, Faro and Murcia.

Having recently ceased operations at Durham Tees Valley, the carrier said it would focus on other hubs and introduce "aggressively priced" new routes at Birmingham.

The new route to Glasgow will operate twice daily with prices beginning at £13.99 one-way, including taxes and charges. Tickets to Murcia (four times weekly) and Faro (three times weekly) start at £24.99 one-way, including extras. Seats are available for booking from today (October 31).

No-frills airline bmibaby has promised that new low-fare routes from Birmingham International Airport will soon be announced.

As part of an expansion at the Midlands hub, bmibaby will announce new services, more flights on existing routes and the continuation of "aggressively priced" fares, starting from £13.99 one-way including extras.

Crawford Rix, the airline's managing director, said the carrier would increase the number of Boeing 737 aircraft operating from Birmingham from five to eight. "We will be introducing a number of exciting new destinations," Rix said.

bmibaby to end Durham Tees Valley operations

Low-cost airline bmibaby is to end all services from Durham Tees Valley Airport.

Because of insufficient passenger numbers, flights from Durham Tees Valley to Cork, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Gatwick will cease as of October 29. Flights to Alicante, Malaga and Palma will end on November 6.

The airline has assured passengers that they will receive a full refund, which will be automatically credited to the original form of payment within 28 days. Those with bookings that cross the cancellation dates need to contact bmibaby direct before their date of travel in order to claim a refund.

New Birmingham to Aberdeen link from bmibaby

Low-cost airline bmibaby has begun selling tickets for its new route between Birmingham and Aberdeen.

The twice-daily flights will begin on October 29, with one morning and one afternoon departure in each direction. Tickets cost from £13.99 one-way, including taxes and charges and the route will be operated by Boeing 737 aircraft.

A strike by pilots at low-cost airline bmibaby has been averted after the Balpa (British Airline Pilots Association) union reached an agreement on pay.

The action would have affected flights from the airline's hubs, which include Nottingham East Midlands and Cardiff.

Speaking to the BBC, Balpa's general secretary Jim McAuslan said: "We have held intensive negotiations over the past few days and made substantial progress."

Passengers flying with low-cost airline bmibaby can get money off airport parking thanks to a new scheme with car park firm NCP.

Those travelling through Birmingham, Belfast International, Cardiff, Durham Tees Valley, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports can log on to bmibaby.com and book in advance to save up to 50 per cent of the gate prices.

NCP's commercial director, Phil Robinson, said: "Our advice to passengers is to book car parking when they book their flights online to secure availability and the best deal."

Passengers reassured over bmibaby strike action

Pilots at bmibaby have voted in favour of strike action but the British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) has guaranteed that no disruption will occur over the August bank holiday.

More than seven out of ten of BALPA's pilots at the low-cost division of bmi voted for strike action, partly because of a 2.4 per cent pay rise "without any satisfactory negotiations".

BALPA may strike within the next few weeks but has reassured passengers that it does not want to make problems "at a time of great difficulty" for aviation in the UK.
