Virgin looking to 'raise spirits with low fares'
January 5, 2009Virgin Atlantic is hoping to lift consumers out of their credit crunch gloom by offering them lower air fares.
The Herald has reported that the airline is planning a series of special offers to mark its 25th anniversary, which will take place in June this year.
Steve Ridgway, chief executive of the airline, told the newspaper that Virgin is hoping to provide some relief for travellers following the recent problems that have troubled the aviation industry.
He said: "While our competitors are feeling down in the dumps, our passengers want us to celebrate the transformation we've brought in the industry since our launch in 1984. "You can count on Virgin Atlantic to raise spirits with some of our lowest fares ever and look into the future with optimism as we did 25 years ago."
Virgin Atlantic is thought to be planning a new media campaign to celebrate its special anniversary.
