Ryanair offers Gatwick to Dusseldorf route
November 27, 2008Ryanair has announced that it will be operating a sixth low-cost route from London Gatwick Airport to the German city of Dusseldorf.
The budget airline will commence the service from January 7 at Gatwick after switching the flight from its London Stansted base, where it has recently reduced its capacity by 20 per cent as a result of high costs.
Ryanair managed to secure the additional slots at Gatwick following the recent collapse of a number of airlines operating at the airport.
Stephen McNamara, Ryanair's head of communications, urged passengers to take advantage of this new route.
He said: "Our new European routes challenge the high fares airlines which currently operate from Gatwick and we provide passengers with real choice and a low fares option."
This week also saw the Irish carrier request Aer Lingus to scrap its "unfair and unjustified" fuel surcharges, which have remained at the same price despite a 70 per cent reduction in oil prices.
