Lufthansa appoints British chef
November 19, 2008Lufthansa has announced that it will be serving British dishes on its flights as it attempts to lure corporate clients away from British Airways, the Evening Standard reports.
The German carrier will be serving its business class customers fish and chips and rabbit terrine following the appointment of a British chef, Chris Staines, for the first time in its history.
Mr Staines, who has been awarded a Michelin star for his work at the Foliage restaurant, has created a menu of dishes for the airline, at a time when Lufthansa has increased its capacity in the UK by 15 per cent.
Dr Karsten Benz, Lufthansa's vice president, told the Evening Standard: "We definitely want to give the British business traveller another reason to choose Lufthansa in addition to the fact that we are the most punctual carrier at Heathrow."
Last year, 83.1 million passengers flew with Lufthansa Group, which is London Heathrow Airport's largest foreign carrier.
