BA shifts Atlanta flight from Gatwick to Heathrow
October 10, 2008British Airways will move its Atlanta service from Gatwick to Heathrow when it kicks off next year's summer schedule.
The flag carrier is making the switch on March 29, giving Atlanta passengers the chance to experience travelling through Heathrow's much-vaunted Terminal 5, home to BA.
It presently operates an afternoon Boeing 777 flight from London to Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport, with the overnight return service departing in the early evening.
BA operates a four-class configuration on the route, offering passengers a choice between First, Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller.
Its Heathrow switch has been made possible by the recent Open Skies treaty, which opened up the UK hub to greater competition by easing restrictions on transatlantic travel.
Earlier this week, BA confirmed that it will also be boosting its Heathrow service to the South African city of Johannesburg at the launch of the 2009 summer timetable.
The carrier will add five additional flights to its existing double-daily schedule, raising the number of weekly flights to 19.
