Aer Arann and Aer Lingus offer link up option

An agreement has been signed between Aer Arran and Aer Lingus that will allow passengers travelling from Cork to the US, via Dublin, easy access through the airport.

From today, bookings can be made on www.aerlingus.com directly both to and from Cork to all seven Aer Lingus USA destinations in one single booking transaction.

The agreement between the two airlines means passengers will be able to check-in at Cork Airport and have their luggage checked through directly to their final destination in the USA, making it easier for people to transfer to their flight at Dublin Airport.

The new arrangement is also available for customers travelling from the USA connecting to Cork Airport.

Dermot Mannion, chief executive of Aer Lingus, said, "This agreement creates a natural synergy between Aer Lingus and Aer Arann, offering customers in the Cork market greater accessibility to the USA.

"Customers can now enjoy ease of transfer at Dublin Airport with the benefit of through check luggage and pre-clearance facilities, giving an overall seamless and enjoyable travel experience."
Aer Lingus offers US flights from Dublin to Boston, Chicago, New York (JFK), Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orlando, Washington (Dulles), while Aer Arann operates five flights a day between Dublin and Cork.

Hopefully this is the first of many. South Wales could do with a link up from Cardiff to Dublin and then onto the States. Save us fom the trek to Heathrow or to Bristol for the once a day Continental flight to Newark.
