Virgin Atlantic launches second Washington service
Virgin Atlantic will be operating a second daily service to Washington from London Heathrow from April 20.
The carrier will provide the service to Washington Dulles International Airport until October 25, complementing the airline's existing daily service, which was launched in June 1996.
The flights will be served by an Airbus A340 aircraft, which all include an Upper Class suite.
Steve Ridgway, chief executive of the airline, said: "Virgin Atlantic is pleased to announce this additional service offering our passengers more choice and flexibility to Washington this summer.
"This new service gives Virgin Atlantic passengers the best possible choice in flight times," he added.
"They can choose the existing morning departure from Heathrow to Washington, or wait until the late afternoon to leave London. On the return, the late evening departure from Washington will suit the those who wish to have dinner in the Capital before heading back on an overnight flight to London."
The new flight will leave Heathrow at 5.30pm and arrive into Washington at 8.55pm. Those returning to the UK can leave Washington at 11.10pm and arrive into London at 11.35am the next day.
