Lufthansa considering beds in economy class

© LufthansaGerman airline Lufthansa is considering introducing triple-decker bunk beds on flights.
To be set out in a herringbone design, the beds could be introduced in economy class on Lufthansa's Airbus A380 superjumbos, of which it has 15 ordered and is set to take delivery from next year.
The beds would be turned from seats after take-off and would be linked to the in-flight entertainment system. Fares would be around £120 more than a current economy fare.
Although the idea is far from becoming reality, the airline said that feedback from a customer poll had been encouraging.
"We are going to analyse the results of the survey and then we will decide whether to proceed or not. But the first results have been very positive," said Lufthansa spokeswoman Amelie Lorenz.
Lufthansa will use its A380 aircraft for long-haul flights from Germany to North America, Australia, South Africa and the Far East.
Separately, the airline has opened a First Class Lounge at Munich Airport, offering a gourmet restaurant, a bar, a cigar lounge and luxury bathrooms.
