Discover a city with Schmap
If you are making a flying visit to a city or town then finding interesting places to discover, or the best restaurants and bars, in advance can be a real time saver.
Often, people turn to a guidebook or do a quick search online, but a new tool called Schmap puts an interactive map and destination guide directly on your computer.
First you need to install the Schmap player, which then allows you to check out places in the US such as Hawaii and New York, as well as Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The majority of European capital cities are covered too.
Each guide is read through the player and offers details of places to visit. Photographs and maps are part of the package so readers can print off a few pages in advance and then set off exploring a place upon arrival.
Currently, it is only available for Windows computers and unless you put the player on your laptop and take it with you, you won’t be able to check things while out on the road, but as a simple, free guidebook that may provide an interesting view of a place, it is worth exploring.
