Air Berlin tickets on sale in Lidl supermarkets
August 30, 2006
© Air BerlinAir Berlin has teamed up with discount supermarket Lidl to offer customers cheap flights in the UK and Europe.
The promotion will see all UK Lidl stores selling flight vouchers for £19 that can save passengers up to £50 on certain domestic and European flights.
The vouchers can be exchanged for one-way flights by entering the code on the Air Berlin website or by phone. The vouchers will be on sale from September 5 until September 12 and are valid for use on flights between September 5 and March 31, 2007. Bookings must be made by October 4.
Vouchers can be used on certain flights from Bournemouth, Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester or London Stansted. Domestic flights are on offer, such as Stansted to Manchester or Glasgow to Stansted, but there are also many European cities available. These include Berlin, Copenhagen, Vienna and Rome – for a full listing, visit www.airberlin.com/lidluk.
Dr Jonathan Reynolds of the Oxford Institute of Retail Management commented: "This is not a sales-led gimmick, no Lidl product purchase is necessary to buy a flight voucher and there will be no special restrictions – as long as the flight has not already sold out then our customers can use their Lidl vouchers in exchange for any of the flights on the website."
He also noted that flights could be taken at busy times such as Christmas and New Year.

Can you buy a voucher to cover a return flight?

You can redeem one voucher per each one-way flight, so for a return flight you would need two vouchers. For full details please see the Air Berlin website.

I have not been able to find any flights to Berlin, Tegel in the month of February showing the Lidl icon. The all appear to show a shamrock. Will any flights in that month be made available to Lidl customers before the last date for booking?
