Earn air miles on new Virgin Atlantic credit card
July 4, 2006Airline Virgin Atlantic has launched a new credit card that allows cardholders to earn air miles when they by things.
For every £1 spent on the Virgin Atlantic American Express credit card, people will be able to earn up to four miles, provided they are members of the airline's Flying Club loyalty scheme.
There are two types of card to choose from – Virgin Atlantic White (which has no fee) and Virgin Atlantic Black (which has a fee of £115 per annum).
People choosing the White card will earn one mile for every £1 spent on the card, rising to two miles if the money is spent at Virgin Atlantic itself or Virgin Holidays.
Meanwhile the Black card will earn users two miles for every £1 spent, again doubling to four miles if the £1 is spent at Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Holidays.
Users of the card, which is provided by MBNA Europe Bank, will also receive bonus miles (3,000 for White and 6,000 for Black) the first time they make a purchase.
Miles can be used on Virgin Atlantic flights or upgrades, as well as on tickets from partner companies such as Eurostar and bmi.
Regular Virgin Atlantic business travellers can also make use of the new clubhouse opened by the airline at Heathrow earlier this year.
The £11 million facility includes a multiscreen cinema, hair salon and spa pool.

I signed up for Virgin Atlantic Credit Card with the offer that I would be credited with 3000 miles for joining and then 1 mile for every £ spent.
I have had the card over three months and am still awaiting for any miles to be credited to my Virgin Atlantic Flying Club card.
