Edinburgh winter schedule boosted by Flyglobespan
May 15, 2006Scotland-based low cost airline Flyglobespan has announced an expanded programme of flights for the winter season.
And it is good news for residents of Edinburgh - flights from the Scottish capital are set to double compared to last season.
New daily services to Malaga and Alicante are to be introduced, along with a weekly link to Tenerife. The city will also benefit from the resumption of a daily service to Geneva from December.
And Glaswegians also have cause to celebrate – a daily service to Malaga and Alicante will also start operating from Glasgow International, alongside flights to Barcelona and Tenerife.
Prices, one-way and including taxes, begin at £29.99 to Geneva, £39.99 to Alicante, £45.99 to Malaga and £59.99 to Tenerife.
Tom Dalrymple, Flyglobespan's chairman, said: "Offering a daily service through the winter is a big commitment but I am confident there is the business there to support it.
"I am sure that the flexibility offered by a daily service will tempt more and more people to tailor-make their breaks to suit themselves and their work commitments."
He added that Flyglobespan, which is also to begin flying from Liverpool in November (see New Tenerife link for Liverpool), is looking to expand further and is dedicated to offering "low fare flights to interesting destinations".

Flyglobespan has been a great boost for Scotland. It has made travelling to Europe realistic, before it meant two journeys to get to Portugal.
Would you please consider extending the flights through the winter - think of all the Scottish golfers who would benefit.
