British Airways launches African advertising drive
May 12, 2006British Airways has launched a new advertising campaign to drum up interest in the airline in Africa and the Middle East.
In a campaign that is "unapologetically about emotional resonance", according to the airline's marketing manager for Africa, Folake Ani-Mumuney, a 30-second commercial will stress the international appeal of the "magic of flying".
"It could be the anticipation of seeing loved ones again or meeting new people, seeing new places or returning home," Ani-Mumuney told AME Info.
"The magic of flying differs for everyone, but it's something that even the most frequent travellers have experienced."
The multimedia campaign is the first of its kind for the airline in the region and will last for around seven months, including events and online adverts.
BA serves six destinations in five countries in the Gulf region and flies passengers to 13 countries throughout Africa, including Tanzania, Angola, Mauritius and South Africa.
The campaign will also include a number of promotions targeting British Airways Executive Club members as well as the general flying public.
