Starbucks to open in three UK airports
March 24, 2006Late night and early morning passengers passing through airports in Newcastle, Glasgow and Bristol will get a perk from a licence tie-up that will see coffee chain Starbucks opening new outlets.
The new cafes will open at Newcastle International Airport, Glasgow Prestwick International Airport and Bristol International Airport, CatererSearch reports.
The deal between the US coffee chain and Compass Group travel concession business SSP is the first between the two companies, but will be rolled out to further locations if successful.
Both Starbucks and SSP noted that the move would provide customers with greater choice.
Starbucks UK and Ireland president Cliff Burrows said: "We are confident this will prove to be a successful entry into new markets enabling us to bring the Starbucks experience to a wider range of customers."
Simon Turl of SSP Air added: "This is a fantastic opportunity to provide passengers with more choice, as well as the Starbucks experience."
