Ink to publish bmi in-flight mag
March 21, 2006Travellers who have enjoyed the magazines of easyJet and MyTravel will be pleased to hear that their publisher, Ink Publishing, has been chosen to produce the in-flight glossy of bmi as well.
Just three weeks ago Ink announced that it had won the contract to publish the magazine of bmi subsidiary bmibaby, called Yeahbaby!
And the move to publish big brother bmi's magazine, voyager, highlights the firm's growing presence in the mainline airline market.
voyager will be a travel and lifestyle magazine including features about local culture, hotels, celebrities and other topics to appeal to bmi's business and leisure travellers.
Ink is the biggest publisher of in-flight magazines in Europe, also printing titles for British Airways franchise airline BMED and budget carrier Jet2.com.
The chief executive of bmi, Nigel Turner, said the company was "delighted" to be working with Ink.
"It is clear they have the experience, expertise and infrastructure to meet our requirements," he said.
Equally delighted was Ink's group publishing director, Simon Leslie, who said: "Our London team is hugely excited about adding one of the most famous and familiar brands in the UK to our portfolio.
"It is evidence of the quality of our work and professionalism that bmi have decided to work with Ink."
He added that the firm was rapidly recruiting staff in order to cope with existing and anticipated growth.
