easyJet boosts flights from Paris to Pisa
March 22, 2006
Low-cost European airline easyJet announced today that it will be providing additional flights from Paris Orly to Pisa in the summer.
EasyJet, which is the largest budget operator in France, has recently made the headlines for its dispute with Air France.
The airline is at loggerheads with the French carrier over government involvement in the Paris-Ajaccio route, where subsidies are provided through a "public service obligation".
Following criticism that Air France monopolised the service, the French airline suggested that easyJet should apply for government subsidies as well.
In a statement issued today, easyJet responded to Air France's comments by asking how much money it receives for operating the Paris-Ajaccio route.
It added that consumers would benefit from low-fares gained through competition between providers on popular domestic journeys such as the Paris-Ajaccio route.
