Head online for cheap ski cover
If you've booked a budget flight to the Alps this ski season, all you need now is cheap winter sports cover to go with it.
For the best deals, skiers are being urged to skirt around the big high street names and head online.
After running the rule over all the competition, price comparison website insuresupermarket.com has concluded that the more obscure insurance players often offer the best deals.
"The majority of best value winter sports cover isn't available via the high street travel agent or with any of the big, well-known names and by going online you can save yourself a packet whilst also knowing you're buying a comprehensive policy," said insuresupermarket.com's director Richard Mason.
With many providers offering only basic cover, insuresupermarket.com has also urged people to examine whether their policies cover winter sports activities other than skiing.
Evidence shows many winter sports enthusiasts indulge in snowboarding or tobogganing without realising they aren't covered.
Insuresupermarket.com also recommends that skiers choose policies that cover a wide variety of eventualities, including piste closures, loss or breakage of ski equipment and inability to ski due to accident, sickness or loss of ski pass.
Meanwhile, no-frills airline Ryanair is offering customers who purchase its multi-trip travel insurance free return flights. But hurry, the deal ends February 1.
