Wizz Air to begin low-cost Bulgaria flights
September 8, 2005Wizz Air will launch flights to the Bulgarian capital Sofia later this month.
From September 18, the budget airline will fly from London Luton to Sofia via Budapest.
It offers four flights a week to the Bulgarian capital - on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays - until September 26.
Thereafter, Wizz will offer three flights a week with connections to Sofia on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays.
Wizz is hoping to offer more services to the South-Eastern European country in the near future, with the Black Sea resorts of Burgas and Varna the likely destinations.
The low-cost airline announced today that it has ordered an additional 12 planes from aircraft manufacturer Airbus, in order to provide flights to more destinations in Central and Eastern Europe over the next five years.
Tickets for Wizz Air flights from London to Sofia start from £1 for travellers who book before September 18, otherwise they start from £29.99.
Earlier this month, SN Brussels Airlines launched flights between the UK and Sofia via Brussels, operating three flights a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
British Airways currently offers direct flights to Sofia from London Heathrow and is launching flights to Varna next year.
