PIA launches first Pakistan flights from Scotland
September 5, 2005Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of its first Scottish flights.
Starting in October, the airline will begin weekly direct flights from Glasgow to the coastal city of Karachi.
PIA already flies from London and Manchester to Karachi, Pakistan's premier business centre, but until now did not offer any flights from either Glasgow or Edinburgh airports, despite the large Pakistani communities living in both cities.
The airline has also announced increased frequency on its most popular domestic routes.
It will now fly every three hours from Karachi to the capital, Islamabad, as well as to Lahore.
PIA flies from Karachi to a number of Middle Eastern destinations including Jeddah and Kuwait, as well as to Bangkok and Tokyo and to the western Chinese city of Urumqi.
The time and day of the new Glasgow-Karachi flights have not yet been confirmed.
British Airways offers flights from London to the Pakistani capital Islamabad, with flights departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Hi Muhammad
Many thanks for you comment.
The easiest way to get flight details is to go to the top of the page and click on the first letter of your required destination.
From there you can narrow down your search.
Hope this helps.

It's great to see that P.I.A has finally seen the great business potential that offering flights from Glasgow can do for its airline. Being a Glasgow lad myself, I always hated travelling to Manchester or London for connecting flights to Lahore or Karachi and this is a great relief now. I can just leave home 2-3 hours prior to flight with as little as commotion as possible. I'd also like to mention some disparaging looks from those at the airport when they see droves of foreigners coming into the terminal for Emirates or P.I.A. flights. Wake up Glasgow, our airport is now called 'GLASGOW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT' and does good for the local economy. Leave the small mindedness at home, cheers all.
