The British airline, which has previously focused on domestic UK flights, is expected to expand its network by 23 new routes through the deal.

With the use of the Air France hub at Paris Charles De Gaulle, Flybe passengers can take advantage of Air France connections including flights to Budapest, Brest, Istanbul, Geneva, Lyons, Madrid, Nice, Munich, Prague, Nuremberg, Sofia, Warsaw, Vienna and Zagreb.

Air France flights to Paris Charles De Gaulle from Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Birmingham will also be sold by Flybe under the new partnership, as well as additional services from Paris Orly.

Flybe chairman Jim French commented: “The codeshare brings benefits for passengers and the two airlines alike; it’s a real win-win agreement. For Flybe, it allows us to offer an even wider range of flights to our passengers, as well as provide superb levels of inter-connectivity that only an airline as big as Air France can offer.”

The deal will also be beneficial to Air France customers as it opens up 45 new air links from France to the UK, offering 17 connecting UK services via Manchester, Southampton and Birmingham.
