New codeshare agreement for bmi and Continental
November 2, 2009Bmi and Continental Airlines have announced a new codeshare deal that will enable both carriers to broaden the number of flights they offer customers.
The agreement means bmi can now sell fares to Newark Liberty International in New York and George Bush Intercontinental in Houston from several UK airports.
The UK airline will benefit from Continental's established presence at Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports.
In return, its American counterpart will now enjoy stronger connectivity within the UK mainland, as well as tapping into bmi's hubs in Brussels and Amman.
"Our new codeshare agreement with Continental will mean our customers have the opportunity to travel on new services between our key departure points and the United States," commented bmi sales and marketing director Katherine Gershon.
Jim Compton, executive vice president of marketing at Continental Airlines, added: "We are delighted to sign this agreement with bmi, our new Star Alliance partner, which enables us to offer our customers an even greater range of travel options."
Continental became the 25th member of the Star Alliance group of airlines last week, giving a boost to the network's domestic US and trans-Pacific offerings.
