Jet2.com adds four routes to Manchester network
October 6, 2009Jet2.com is to become the biggest scheduled airline operating out of Manchester Airport when it adds four new routes at the base next summer.
The low-cost carrier will add direct flights to Prague, Dubrovnik, Split and Reus in Costa Dorada, bringing the overall number of routes it operates to 28.
When the new connections come into service they will boost capacity at the airport by a whopping 140,000 additional seats – 20 per cent up on this year.
The Dubrovnik connection will be operated twice a week from April 29, 2010, with fares starting from just £49.99 one-way, including taxes and charges.
Split will benefit from a twice-weekly connection beginning May 8 for the same one-way fare, while four flights to Prague will be operated each week from April 1, costing £19.99. The new Reus link launches on May 25 and will be twice weekly, costing £29.99.
"At Jet2.com we are bucking the trend of other airlines by significantly increasing our services across our bases," commented chief executive Philip Meeson.
Manchester Airport managing director Andrew Cornish added: "Since starting operations from Manchester Airport in 2005, Jet2.com has gone from strength to strength – establishing the airline as a popular operator with both leisure and business passengers."
The no-frills carrier recently unveiled plans to boost frequencies on two of its Manchester connections, doubling the availability of flights to Sharm El Sheikh and Tel Aviv.
