Bmibaby announces new tie-up with Germanwings
October 20, 2009Bmibaby and Germanwings have entered into a new agreement that will see the airlines list details of each other's flights on their booking websites.
The new partnership, which comes into effect on October 25, will also make it easier for passengers to book connecting flights across both carriers' networks.
Germanwings is part of the Lufthansa group which recently acquired a majority stake in UK carrier bmi, the parent company of bmibaby.
Once the agreement is fully implemented, passengers will benefit from a new ticketing procedure which combines the schedules of both no-frills carriers.
Commenting after details of the partnership were unveiled, bmibaby managing director Crawford Rix said: "By providing a direct link between bmibaby.com and Germanwings.com we are offering travellers in Europe even more places to fly to at really low fares."
Germanwings chief executive Thomas Winkelmann also welcomed the move, adding: "Partnering with bmibaby increases our presence in the British market."
The no-frills operator, Germany's third largest airline, is currently gearing up for the launch of new flights between Manchester Airport and Cologne / Bonn.
