Positive response to new south-west City link
August 6, 2009Regional low-cost carrier Air Southwest is reporting a positive response to its new link from Newquay and Plymouth airports to London City Airport.
The airline launched the twice-daily business service in April, giving passengers the chance to enjoy a full working day in the capital before returning to the south-west.
Flights to London City take just 70 minutes from Plymouth and less than two hours from Newquay, undercutting rail alternatives by several hours.
In addition to the shorter travelling times passengers have also been drawn to its low fares, with one-way tickets starting from £29.99, including taxes and baggage.
"Air Southwest’s flights from my local airport to London City have made a huge difference to me," commented one regular flyer, Sally Baxter of HR specialists Penna.
"Travelling by air and saving two hours on my Monday morning commute to London means that I can start meetings earlier and generally feel more energized at the start of my working week."
Air Southwest services the route with its fleet of Bombardier Dash 8-300 planes – some of the most fuel efficient medium-range aircraft in the world.
