To fly or not to fly? easyJet forecasts the summer weather
July 6, 2009While more and more Britons will be choosing to stay on the Costa del Backyard this summer, easyJet has joined forces with John Kettley, the weatherman, to produce a chart so travellers seeking cheap flights can rest assured that they won't be missing the best of the sunshine at home.
According to Kettley, the weekends to pack your bags and head to the airport will be July 11-12, July 18-19 and August 8-9.
For July 25-26, August 1-2 and August 15-16, Kettley advises sun seekers to take a chance on the British summer.
Towards the end of August, Southerners stand the best chance of sun. Those in Northern Ireland, Scotland and the North West should think about booking flights to where the sun is (almost) guaranteed.
Kettley explains: “August 2008 was the cloudiest on record and wet weather conditions were experienced across most of the UK. This August will hopefully not follow the trend of last year but it is not likely to be exceptional with varying good and bad weather and some thundery downpours."
Paul Simmons, UK General Manager for easyJet, said: “After two incredibly poor summers Britain’s finally got a taste of the sunshine so we’ve brought John on board to help people who haven’t yet planned a summer break to determine the best time to jet off to ensure they don’t miss out on good weather at home.”
