Ski specialist offers direct flights to Valais
July 14, 2009Ski specialist Snowjet has announced that it will operate a new route this winter between London Stansted and Sion Airport in the Swiss Valais Region.
The connection will be the only scheduled service from the UK to Sion, providing ski enthusiasts with easy access to some of the region's most popular resorts.
Flights will depart at 10am every Saturday and Sunday between December 19, 2009, and April 18 next year, touching down in Sion at 1pm (local time).
On the return leg, flights will take off at 2pm, arriving back in London at 3pm (BST). Prices start from £49 one-way, including taxes and a 20kg baggage allowance.
David Lacy, Managing Director of Snowjet, commented: "Passengers will benefit from terrific time-saving advantages by flying direct to Sion. Verbier, for example, is just 35 to 40 minutes away from Sion, compared with two and a half hours from Geneva.
"In addition, Sion handles a low volume of passengers, which means skiers won't have a long wait at baggage reclaim or at check-in, enabling them to spend longer on the slopes."
The new connection will complement Snowjet's existing flights to Chambery in the French Alps from Stansted, Gatwick, Bristol and Manchester airports.
