Liverpool Airport hosts easyJet's busiest route
July 16, 2009Liverpool John Lennon Airport can now lay claim to hosting the busiest connection operated across easyJet's entire 437-strong network of routes.
The airport's Belfast service takes to the skies 12 times each way per day and remains as popular as ever, marking its 10th anniversary this month.
A total of 4.8 million passengers have made use of the connection, which is the also the single busiest route operated out of Liverpool Airport.
Carly Brear, easyJet’s UK Commercial Manager, said the link started off as a predominantly business route, but has since grown in popularity with leisure travellers.
"Belfast has established itself as a popular tourist destination in recent years," she told the Liverpool Daily Post, adding: "There is also a large Northern Irish community in the north-west which regularly uses the route to travel back and forth to visit friends and relatives."
Liverpool Airport also serves as a base for continental no-frills carrier Wizz Air, which this week began operating three-times-weekly flights to Prague.
