Icelandair boosts Glasgow and Manchester flights
July 9, 2009 Icelandair is boosting the frequency of flights it operates between Reykjavik and its UK hubs at Glasgow and Manchester airports this winter.
From September 25, the Icelandic carrier will run two extra weekly flights from the British airports, bringing its total number of UK regional links to four.
The connections will be serviced by a so-called "triangle route," with flights running between the two British cities on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Outbound services from the Icelandic capital depart at 8am local time, touching down in Manchester at 11.35am BST. Planes will then depart from the northern city at 12.25pm, connecting via Glasgow before flying on to Reykjavik at 2.20pm for the return leg.
The schedule will also fit into Icelandair's "hub and spoke" system, enabling passengers to connect to destinations in North America serviced by the carrier.
Airline spokesman Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason commented: "We are pleased to expand our service from Glasgow and Manchester to Iceland and our North American destinations.
"This will provide our passengers with increased convenience and flexibility to travel to Iceland to take advantage of the favourable exchange rate, plus increase the options for connecting onwards to fantastic destinations like New York City, Boston, Seattle and more."
