EasyJet adds Luton to Tel Aviv flights
July 8, 2009Low-cost carrier easyJet has announced that it will start running a new direct service between London Luton Airport and Israel's second city, Tel Aviv.
The airline will become the first no-frills carier to operate flights between the British capital and Tel Aviv – a route dominated by full-fare outfits such as bmi.
Its inaugural flight will take to the skies on November 2, with services operating every day except Friday. Fares start from just £71.98 one-way, including taxes.
Commenting on the new link, easyJet Chief Executive Andy Harrison said: "This is a major breakthrough. For the first time the travelling public in the London area has the choice between a high-cost traditional airline and a low-cost alternative.
"We look forward to bringing our unique blend of low fares with friendly service to a whole new market."
In addition to the Tel Aviv service, from November 3 easyJet will also be expanding its presence in Morocco by launching a new twice weekly flight to Agadir.
