Luton Airport welcomes new Italian carrier
June 29, 2009London Luton Airport is preparing to add Italian low-cost carrier Wind Jet to its route network.
From this Thursday (July 2), the no-frills airline will be operating twice weekly services between Luton and Forli Airport, situated in the north of Italy.
Welcoming the new airline, Luton spokesman Simon Harley commented: "We are delighted to announce the arrival of Wind Jet at London Luton. With the established Italian community in the local area we are confident these flights will be extremely successful."
He added: "Low-cost flying continues to make business and leisure travel increasingly accessible to millions of Europeans and the launch of this new service to Forli provides yet more choice for our passengers."
The connection will be serviced by one of Wind Jet's Airbus A320s, with onward connections available to Catania and Palermo. For passengers stopping at Forli, the city provides easy access to the popular destinations of Ravenna, Rimini and San Marino.
Wind Jet is currently the largest operator at Forli Airport, following Ryanair's decision to abandon the base and relocate several routes to Bologna Airport.
