Flybe boosts Edinburgh to Shetland service
June 25, 2009Low-cost carrier Flybe will boost the number of daily flights it operates between Edinburgh Airport and Shetland, The Scotsman reports.
The addition of the extra service, to be run by Glasgow-based partner Loganair, brings the number of daily Shetland flights from Scotland's capital to three.
Announcing the expansion, airline spokesman Jonathan Hinkles confirmed that the thrice daily link will be on offer through the entire summer period.
"We're delighted to be able to launch a third service on one of our most important routes," he said.
Mr Hinkles continued: "The strong advance bookings on the new flights show that they are already proving popular with customers, particularly by offering additional flexibility and choice for those making onward connections at Edinburgh."
Earlier this week, Flybe announced that it is also launching a new winter connection between Norwich Airport and the Swiss city of Geneva.
