Virgin signs codeshare agreement with Jet Airways
May 5, 2009Virgin Atlantic is entering into a new codeshare agreement with the Indian carrier Jet Airways on flights to Mumbai, it has been confirmed.
The agreement will allow Virgin customers to book seats on a double daily service operated by Jet Airways from London Heathrow to India's financial capital.
Virgin spokesman Edmond Rose said the deal would be particularly beneficial to travellers with onward connections at Heathrow, bringing passengers directly to the carrier's Terminal 3 base.
Jet Airways CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer also welcomed the agreement, saying it represents a "significant step forward" in strengthening ties between the two airlines.
"The Mumbai to London route holds great potential and we were looking to enhance our presence on this route by means of a codeshare partnership with a carrier whose commitment to service and product quality closely mirrors our own," he commented.
Sir Richard Branson's airline also recently expanded its codeshare agreement with bmi, enabling it to offer long-haul through-tickets from regional UK airports.
