Spring travellers 'opt for sunnier climes'

Half of all British holidaymakers rate sunny weather as their top priority when selecting where to go for their spring break, new research has revealed.

The UK may be basking in unseasonably warm temperatures this week, but according to Holiday Extras few of us place any faith in the notorious British weather.

The travel company's latest poll shows that 48 per cent of chilly Brits would be perfectly happy going "anywhere with warm weather " this spring.

A third of respondents said that they would like to travel to mainland Europe or even further afield, while barely one in five were willing to settle for a UK break.

"I'm not surprised that so many people want guaranteed sunshine this spring," commented Holiday Extras spokesman Mike Whiting. "While some people will certainly be choosing to holiday closer to home, tourism abroad is still high on the agenda for most."

Cheapflights.co.uk recently reported that airfares to the Eurozone fell dramatically in March, plummeting by up to 75 per cent on certain routes.
