Jet2.com and bmibaby unveil winter schedules
April 9, 2009
Two low-cost airlines have unveiled details of their forthcoming winter schedules in a bid to encourage travellers to book as early as possible.
Jet2.com announced that it will operate flights from several UK airports to Geneva and the ski resort of Chambery, with fares starting from as little as £19.99 one-way including taxes.
No-frills rival bmibaby has also published details of its winter schedule, which includes new flights to Grenoble from all four of its UK bases.
Flights to the French resort will run twice a week from East Midlands, Birmingham and Cardiff airports, in addition to a new weekly link from Manchester Airport.
The airline will also extend its recently launched connection between Manchester and Toulouse into the winter season, as well as offering a new link between Belfast International Airport and Prague.
“We have seen strong early bookings for summer 2009 as people are keen to save money by booking early,” commented Crawford Rix, Managing Director of bmibaby. “We believe this trend will continue for the winter season as people want to secure a great deal.”
Philip Meeson, Chief Executive of Jet2.com, echoed those sentiments, saying the early launch would give passengers “plenty of time to budget and prepare for their winter break”.
