Wizz Air expands Liverpool routes
March 16, 2009Wizz Air will increase its presence at Liverpool John Lennon Airport with a new schedule to Prague.
The eastern European low-cost carrier, which is headquartered in Hungary, will begin its three times weekly service to the capital of the Czech Republic from July 11, 2009.
Departing from the north-west based airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 12.50pm; the flights will begin from just £12.99 one-way.
John Stephenson, chief commercial officer of Wizz Air, explained that Liverpool is an "excellent market" for the budget carrier.
He said: "While these are challenging times for all airlines, we continue to see real potential for growth at Liverpool, reflecting the importance of the airport in our network and the gateway role it plays in the north west of England."
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is one of Europe's fastest growing aviation centres, with passenger numbers increasing from 875,000 in 1998 to 5.47 million in 2007.
