Plymouth to Guernsey flights unveiled
February 3, 2009Air Southwest has announced that it will begin to operate services from Plymouth City Airport to Guernsey Airport on April 8 2008.
The regional airline, which already has a scheduled route to Jersey, will allow passengers to travel on the service on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Fares will begin at just £39 one-way, including taxes, fees and surcharges, after Guernsey's Commerce and Employment department granted permission for the service to begin.
Mike Coombes, Air Southwest's deputy chief executive, suggested that the airline hoped to provide a service for Guernsey students studying at the University of Plymouth.
He also said: "This new service increases the number of destinations on offer from Plymouth City Airport to 11 and we hope that it will make a significant contribution to the island’s economy."
Guernsey is home to 27 bay and cove beaches and is renowned for its variety of fresh seafood restaurants.
