Ryanair confirms World Cup special flight
January 7, 2009Ryanair has confirmed that it will be operating a special route for one of Ireland's FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
The budget airline announced yesterday (January 6) that it will be flying from Dublin to Bari, Italy in April 2009 in order to help Irish fans fly out and support their team.
Ireland will be playing Italy at Bari's Stadio San Nicola on April 1 and Ryanair will operate a flight on that day especially for fans travelling to the match.
The flight will depart from Dublin at 6am, with the return flight departing from Bari the following day at 11.15am. There will be just 189 sets available so football fans are urged to book quickly if they wish to secure a seat.
Return fares are priced at €399.89 (£365.24), including taxes and charges.
Commenting on the special route, Ryanair's Stephen McNamara said: "Ryanair has been working with the airport authorities in Bari in order to ensure that Ireland fans can fly directly from Dublin for this crucial match and we are delighted to have secured the slots which will allow Trap's Green Army to sing for the Boys in Green in Bari."
