Manchester unveils Israel service
January 16, 2009Jet2.com has disclosed that it will begin operating flights from Manchester Airport to Tel Aviv later this year.
The low cost airline will start its weekly Thursday service to the Israeli city from May 21, before adding a second flight on the route in October, which will depart on Sundays.
Economy class fares begin at just £70.99 one-way including taxes, which Jet2.com claims is the lowest fares from the UK to the Middle East destination.
Phillip Meeson, Jet2.com chief executive, is confident that there will be "huge demand" on the service.
He said: "As the only direct route from the north [of England], we are in an unrivalled position to offer both the lowest ever fares and fastest service into Israel."
Tel Aviv, which is the 14th most expensive city in the world, is situated on the Israeli Mediterranean coastline and is the country's cultural capital.
