Flightline falls into administration
December 4, 2008Flightline Limited has been taken into administration, as the aviation industry undergoes increasingly difficult times.
The Southend-based airline had operated a number of chartered flights to the Mediterranean from Manchester Airport; however, it went bust late on December 3.
The Civil Aviation Authority has now removed Flightline's Air Operating Certificate, which left players and managers of Portsmouth football club stranded at Southampton Airport as the carrier was due to fly the club to Germany.
Jane Moriarty, an appointed administrator to Flightline, said: "We are now undergoing an orderly wind down of business, with the aim of realising the value of any of the remaining assets for the benefit of creditors."
Established in 1989, the carrier also operated sub-services for major airlines in Europe and ironically was on hand to assist passengers after XL Airways fell into administration in September.
