BAA pledge Glasgow investment
December 5, 2008BAA has pledged to continue investing money into Glasgow International Airport in the run-up to the city hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
The airport operator disclosed that it plans to "upgrade and refurbish" Glasgow's terminal building, which it expects will require a multi-million pound investment.
The Spanish-owned consortium outlined its plans for future development during the opening of a "state of the art" security area, which is part of a £31 million, 4,000 metre expansion of the airport.
Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, insisted that BAA is not "complacent about the future".
She said: "Our quest for improvement is ongoing because our passengers expect nothing less. So, we will continue to invest at Glasgow Airport, building an airport that meets the future transport needs of Scotland's largest city."
Glasgow airport, which is the second busiest in Scotland, flew nearly nine million passengers to a variety of domestic, European and international destinations in 2007.
