BA resumes Saudi flights
December 1, 2008British Airways is set to resume flights to Saudi Arabia, after a four year break from the gulf state.
The UK's flag carrier plans to offer five flights a week to both Jeddah and Riyadh from London Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5.
BA suspended services to both destinations in March 2005 due to poor performance, but will now recommence operations using a Boeing 777 and a Boeing 767.
Robert Boyle, BA's commercial director, said: "Resuming these flights makes commercial sense. The oil market is increasingly important globally and inward investment into Saudi Arabia has risen considerably in the last couple of years."
Return fares to Jeddah will start from £450 and to Riyadh from £462, which includes taxes fees and surcharges.
This decision comes on the back of an agreement between the UK and Saudi governments in June, which increased the maximum number of weekly flights that airlines can operate between the two states to 35.
