Work begins on Bournemouth Airport expansion
October 2, 2008Work on the first stages of the redevelopment of Bournemouth Airport's terminal has begun.
The initial work is part of a £45 million expansion project and is due to be completed over the next few weeks.
A number of changes will be taking place, including the relocation of one of the baggage belts in the arrival hall and the provision of an interim security search area.
In addition, a temporary entrance will be created at the side of the building while the main entrance is closed.
What's more, the short term car park (Car Park 3) will be temporarily closed, and short term car parking spaces will be made available in Car Park 1.
Managing director Rob Goldsmith said that while the work is "extremely important", Bournemouth Airport recognises the need to keep the level of disruption for passengers as low as possible.
"We will do our utmost to ensure that any inconvenience is kept to a minimum and would remind passengers to allow plenty of time to travel to the airport and for their journey through the terminal building."
