SAS launches new UK services to Delhi
October 10, 2008
Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) has unveiled several new weekly connections to the Indian city of Delhi.
The airline will be operating services from three UK airports - London Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester - as part of ongoing expansion to its long-haul network.
Its new routes come in response to the steady growth of India's tourism industry, as well as Delhi's reputation as a global business centre.
The first Heathrow service will depart on October 27, operating once a week on all subsequent Mondays. Flights to Birmingham and Manchester will take off on Wednesday and Saturday respectively.
Unveiling the new service, airline spokesman Lars-Ove Filipson said: "SAS is delighted to be further growing its international network and building on our existing long haul services.
"We are expecting to see large numbers of leisure and business travellers taking advantage of the new route and flying to Delhi to explore India’s magical capital city and rich culture."
SAS is deploying an Airbus 340-300 equipped with its next-generation business class flatbeds on the route.
