LTE plans resumption of Norwich flights
October 31, 2008Spanish low-cost carrier LTE (website: http://www.lte.es/default.aspx?lang=en) hopes to resume flying out of Norwich Airport by December this year, it has emerged.
The no-frills carrier was forced to pull all its chartered and scheduled services earlier this month after its financial situation left it incapable of meeting operational expenses.
But it announced on Tuesday (October 28) that it has resumed limited charter operations from some airports, with Norwich services due to get off the ground shortly.
Confirming that the airline appears to have overcome the threat of bankruptcy, Norwich Airport managing director Richard Jenner said that the carrier would be welcomed back with open arms.
"We will be working closely with LTE to ensure that all the requirements for a resumption of scheduled flights from Norwich are fulfilled," he confirmed.
Jenner continued: "We and LTE both hope that scheduled services will begin again in December and we will keep passengers informed of developments as soon as we hear about them."
When the airline grounded its fleet in October, more than 100 passengers from East Anglia were stranded in Barcelona, Alicante and Palma.
