Flyglobespan denies rumours of impending collapse
September 30, 2008Low-cost Scottish carrier Flyglobespan has rebuked claims that it is on the verge of collapse.
Responding to suggestions that it will likely be the next airline to go under, Flyglobespan has said that it is on course to see a return to profit in 2009.
In 2007, various issues caused the airline to report losses of £13 million.
However, in an interview with The Scotsman, Flyglobespan chairman Tom Dalrymple has asserted that the carrier "has no debt".
Mr Dalyrymple said that multi-million pound deals to lease planes during the winter will help to bring the airline back into credit.
"After last year's difficulties, we will be back in profit this year - and very well-positioned for the future."
He went on to note that Flyglobespan has "significant cash assets built up over many years of successful trading", as well as "substantial" home-based and international property assets.

Praise for the airline:
I would just like to say that we have just recently returned from holiday in Benidorm. The airline and crew were brilliant, looking forward to our next flight with Flyglobespan.

A commendable airline, have travelled with them on several occasions without anything to complain about. Tried another low-cost airline and felt vulnerable and cheated on: the refreshments provided as we were given barely half-filled cartons of coffee - hardly enough to rehydrate anyone. As our grandson continually quotes: "I like Flyglobespan, 'cos its an award winning airline." We recently travelled to and returned from Barcelona with great airline crews and flights in each direction, and we look forward to our next trip with Flyglobespan.
