A place in my heart: Olympos, Turkey

Where? Olympos, Turkey
Why? It was like no other place I had visited. Spectacular, lush scenery that had everything one could want from a short break: beach, mountains, beautiful trees and ruins. This is a part of Turkey, and indeed Europe, that most people would not be aware of, and that is certainly one of its attractions.
Best meal? Meat, especially kebaps, on the BBQ and lots of cold Efes beer!
Where would you stay? There are few accommodation options in Olympos, because it so remote and is protected. I would stay at one of the Tree House lodges – Kadir’s is a popular choice. These are not luxury resorts, but offer value and an incredible opportunity to meet interesting travellers from around the globe and interact with passionate locals.
Top Tips? We went diving in Olympos and had a great day spent on an old tall ship. This was not typical Mediterranean diving, but we explored some very surreal caverns and saw incredible stalagmites and stalactites. If time permits, visit a Hamam – a wonderful and relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
