April 4, 2008Wizz Air has expanded its services at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield by launching a new route to Warsaw.
The Warsaw route will operate three times per week and passengers on the inaugural flight to the UK were welcomed with Yorkshire Tea and locally sourced biscuits.
The low-cost central and eastern Europe carrier already offers flights to Katowice/Krakow, Gdansk, Poznan and Wroclaw, bringing its total to five destinations from the airport. These routes are not available from any other airport in the Yorkshire, Lincolnshire or Humberside regions, added the airline.
Hugh Lang, group airport director for Peel Airports Group, said: "Wizz Air's recent growth at Robin Hood Airport is tremendous.
"Year on year, the airline has grown passenger numbers at Robin Hood Airport by more than 300 per cent. Warsaw is an important business and leisure destination, and likewise, Robin Hood Airport is the perfect gateway for inbound tourism to the airport region."
