This was the result of delays in the staff car park and at security and log in, which meant that the baggage handlers had difficulty reporting for duty, leading to the operational problems throughout the day associated with processing customers' baggage, said the airline.

European court dismisses Aer Lingus' injunction against Ryanair

Ryanair has welcomed the European Court of First Instance's (CFI's) dismissal of Aer Lingus' request for an injunction against the airline.

Aer Lingus had asked to have Ryanair removed from its shareholder register, preventing the airline, which holds a 29 per cent stake in its smaller rival, from exercising its voting rights.

In a statement released yesterday (Wednesday, March 19), Ryanair said that the injunction request was an effort by Aer Lingus to force it to sell its minority shareholding.

"The European Commission had already decided on this issue and found that Ryanair has no control over Aer Lingus and it therefore cannot force Ryanair to sell its minority stake," said Jim Callaghan, Ryanair's Head of Regulatory Affairs.
