Cologne service from East Midlands takes to skies
February 13, 2008
East Midlands Airport now has a link to the German city of Cologne after the launch of a new route by bmi.
The airline's first flight to Cologne took off earlier this week, providing passengers from the Midlands a direct link to one of Europe’s most metropolitan areas all year round.
bmi regional will operate a six-times weekly service, except Saturday, with fares starting at £49 one-way, including taxes and charges.
Caroline Plant, of East Midlands Airport, said: "Cologne and Bonn are both historical cities and excellent places from which to explore the rest of the Rhineland and Germany.
"The direct flights will also prove popular with business users, whether they are conducting business in Cologne, Bonn or elsewhere in Germany. We are anticipating a huge demand for these flights."
All passengers travelling on the new bmi service will be entitled to use the ‘fast-track’ facility through security at East Midlands Airport.
