Stansted Airport gets 24-hour bus service
December 17, 2007Passengers travelling to Stansted Airport will benefit from a new 24-hour bus route from next year.
On January 7, more services will link Harlow, Sawbridgeworth and Bishop's Stortford to the Essex airport, which offers many European flights from low-cost airlines like Ryanair, easyJet, Air Berlin and Wizz Air.
The 510 Arriva Shires and Essex bus will operate a further eight more times during the night-time, seven days a week. It will run every 20 minutes between 7am and 6pm, and either hourly or half-hourly between these times, Monday to Saturday.
On Sundays buses will run either hourly or half-hourly throughout the day and night.
"The airport is very much a 24-hour business and we are looking to provide 24-hour public transport services to meet the needs of both our staff and passengers," said Stansted Airport's Nicola Hooper.
More than 40 per cent of passengers using Stansted get there on public transport. The airport was commended at this year's UK Bus Awards for its work in developing bus services, of which there are now more than 550 per day.
